My Take

So… I’m writing a book. Yep, I’m taking the plunge. I’m in the beginning stages of taking what I’ve learned on the Entrepreneur’s Enigma podcast, adding some of my own insights, and writing a book. I’ve known for a while that I have a book in me and I’ve wanted to write one for quite some time.

When will it be out? No clue

! Right now, I’m at the VERY beginning of the planning stages. I have a preliminary table of contents, a thesis, a elevator pitch, and I’m reading books about writing books. (How meta, right?)

The good thing is that I’m not coming at this completely blind. I was a journalist for about 6 year for local newspapers in the early 2000s, and even went to school and graduated with a journalism degree. So, does that make me particularly equipped to be a book author? Nope! Not at all. But, it does make me crazy enough to think I can do it.

  An interesting survey and article from the data. It appears that more listeners of podcast want their podcasts to more hybrid and have a video component of some sort. It’s not a whole lot (46% for and 42% not), but it still intrigues me. YouTube is the second most popular site on the web and the second biggest search engine after it’s Alphabet sibling Google. So maybe there is something to it.

  The tech bubble has definitely deflated if not outright burst. But how the executives handle layoffs and the downswing is important. It looks like Benioff didn’t do such a good job.

  See artificial intelligence IS creating opportunities, Ma! I joke, but this is going to be a whole new industry. The AI detection industry.
  

• Twitter Rolls Out New, Swipeable Feed of Only Users That You Follow in the App
  Is this in direct response to Mastodon and it’s non-algorithmic greatness? I think so!
  

• Instagram’s Updating its UI, with the Shop Tab to Disappear from the Main App Screen
  I can’t say I’m surprised. Shopping in Instagram happens, as I see it, in the reals and stories much more than dedicated shopping. It’s more coincidental than deliberate.
  

• YouTube’s New Shorts Monetization Process Will Come Into Effect in February
  This could be really beneficial to the platform and its users.
  

Tool To Take Note Of (Pun Intended)

I recently got the reMarkable 2 e-Ink tablet to help organize my life both professionally and personally. So far I’m absolutely loving it. It’s like writing on paper, which is really cool. I’ve loaded some DRM-free eBooks onto it, as well as some PDF-formatted reports that I’ve been meaning to read, but weren’t easy to read on a computer screen. I’ve also put a 2023 planner on it to replace my paper one. So far that’s working great as well.

Check out the sub-Reddit on the reMarkable 2 and the main site is full of interesting content as well. It’s not a cheap device, but well worth it to keep my notes and planning in one spot.
